That's OK, what I really want out there is a repeater. But it's not like I can afford that either.

Hey guys,

I can't say for sure if I could help because I would be speaking for someone else, but we have a guy in our RACES/ARES group that has a burner at his work.

He has offered to burn in the past. And he is active in APRS. I can ask him tomorrow at our RACES/ARES meeting.

He'd need the EPROM code and the necessary info to burn into it.

Thanks, Jim - I'm out of touch with what is "the best" APRS digipeater software right now, so I guess we'll have to ask around.

It would be great if he would help. But, like Jeff, I don't know much about that type system. I know that editing the bin file is the tricky part.

l do some surfing tomorrow and see what I can find. Had devil of a time getting into the board today, was like it didn't exsist in DNS.

Hi Gene and Jeff,

I talked to AL KB9YMD and he said he could burn it. He just needs the eprom, the bin file, and the info that goes into the program. Or if you have already entered the info that would be great. I don't know that much about uidigi so I'm not sure how you get the info into it.

Ok, just did some web surfing and read up a little on UIDIGI. If you have already entered the info and made the bin file then the only things AL needs is the eprom and bin file.

We need to coordinate to get these things. Any suggestions on how to do that ?

The only eprom I have is the stock one in the unit... I'll have to look to see what it is, and see if I can find another.

Finally had to take the stupid box and open it, then remove the sticker over the eprom, to get the IC number. Evil or Very Mad

M27C256B is what is installed. It will take a 512K bit chip, probably the M27C512 or equal.

I don't have any of these in anything I can salvage from. The chips I thought would work aren't equivalent. Drat.

Ah, but Bob always thought the KPC-3 digipeating was what "broke" his idea for how things should work, when they implemented the vague idea he had, and it didn't work out the way he wanted it to... Wink

Ahhh yes, the gospel according to BOB Rolling Eyes

KPC digipeaters ruined APRS the same way no-code techs ruined amateur radio...
