Thanks to a generous temporary loan of equipment from KA9VNV, N9MXQ-15 is back up and running.
Hopefully I can get a more permanent (not borrowed) solution up before too long.
Thanks Jeff! Signed Gene Young N9MXQ

Made some minor programming changes to n9mxq-15. Seems more active now. And I still haven't figured out what causes/caused the mysterious outages when it would just flat disappear. Yet when I had the chance to go look at it, it appeared on air and working.. Signed Gene Young N9MXQ

Just learned that N9MXQ-15 will soon be obsolete. I was informed this morning by KB9AYF that he has a site on a tower in North Central Winnebago county with an antenna height of 425 feet. He'll be placing a digi as soon as he can get the antenna installed on the tower.
Once his is up and running, I will remove n9mxq-15 from service. Signed Gene Young N9MXQ

Rather than pull your station off the air completely, you might consider changing it to a WIDE1-1 "fill-in" digi. Unless you are within just a couple miles of the new digi, fill-in digi stations can be quite useful.

I'll see how well the new system works before I make any decision. But I'm guessing that my lil system will be obsolete. Signed Gene Young N9MXQ

N9MXQ-15 is now made up of an MFJ 1270b running UIDIGI 1.9B3 and a GE MDX 30 watt radio. Special thanks go to N9QIP for setting up the 1270b and testing the whole enchilada before shipping down here.
This was ordered before I received the news posted above, and will stay on the air for now. Signed Gene Young N9MXQ

KB9AYF-15 is on the air for testing. The antenna is at 270 feet. Should have one heck of a footprint.
Any signal reports are welcome. Signed Gene Young N9MXQ

I'll be heading that way next week from Dubuque to Rochelle will be interesting to see how well it can pick my setup up.
I just found this site, and I'm trying to get a digi set up in Dubuque to cover the tri-state area. Anyone on here able to help out?

Hi Adam,
Welcome to the site! Right now it's only running 1 watt, and it's not digi'ing much of anything. Ron needs to change some parameters.
As far as help on setting up a new digi, what are you looking for? It's not that hard, the easiest route is a UIView setup... Then there's what I'm running now, you can get the eeprom for a TNC2 clone, like my 1270b for free from a site above. KPC-3/3+'s are OK, but you have to set them just right to catch everything.
Then all you need is a spare rig, and a decent site, it's a bonus if you can see and hit other WIDES from there, UIView would allow a WIDE/IGATE, unless you run the gate from home like I used to.
Feel free to ask questions, there's a ton of knowledge on this board. Signed Gene Young N9MXQ

Will be taking N9MXQ-15 offline tomorrow to test how well KB9AYF-10 is working.
My home station is set up for fill in wide1-1.
Have a lead on what may be a couple locations for n9mxq-15. I'll keep everyone posted when I know more. Signed Gene Young N9MXQ
