Sorry for the long post, but it's hard to find solid help. I'm setting up a digi and looking for assistance with proper configuration. I am most definitely a novice at this. Main purpose of this digi is to provide mobile coverage to Piatt County and act as a fill between Decatur and Champaign. We also want to be able to send APRS messages for storm spotting and other ARES exercises. I'm located in Monticello, IL which is just about evenly spaced between Decatur and Champaign. Hardware is a MFJ-1274 with TAPR DCD mod and UIDigi firmware and Motorola Syntor. This will eventually be placed on the local grain elevator. I can reliably hear two digis directly - WA9RES, W9MBD and an igate, W9ADS. I would imagine more when placed in operating position.
Looking for correct settings for:
digialias, digicall, uidigi, uiflood, uitrace, and unproto
Thanks for any help. Signed KA9SZW

Can't help with exact settings for the UIDIGI software, since my MFJ is still in the box, 3 years after I bought it to put in place of my KPC-3 Plus. However, you could use the KPC settings as a general template... [link to obsolete article removed 3 May 2006]
You'll also find links to the APRS/DOS documentation, which covers settings for your digipeater's location/capability broadcast strings.
At a minimum, you should set up WIDE for UIFLOOD, TRACE for UITRACE, and RELAY, WIDE for UIDIGI. These are the aliases most APRS users expect for digipeaters. Signed Jeff Brenton KA9VNV
