Over the last few months, I've snuck some time to get my TinyTrak4 wired up. Today, I discovered a serial cable I'd plugged into the computer back when I bought the silly thing, so I finished programming it.
Then, I followed the instructions exactly, and really finished programming it.
Anyway, KA9VNV-2 made an appearance on the net a few minutes ago. No one is likely to have heard it over the air except me, because the .15 watt transmitter didn't make it to the digipeater, but I now have a working tracker for the motorcycle.
It only took, what, 8 or 9 months? Signed Jeff Brenton KA9VNV

Given my past week's work schedule, that's not funny...
Power distribution is the next bit of magic to accomplish. With the HT+TT4+Byonics GPS, the number of power connections is down to 2, but the bike only has one power pole set on it right now. I either build a power splitter cable (easiest), or make a new (shorter) TT4->HT cable that includes the power feed for both on one connector...
Anyway, I really have to get an outside antenna up here at the house, because it seems that K9ESV-10 sometimes goes deaf, and stops digipeating... Right now, the only stations on the map here at the house are those I can hear on an indoor antenna; the rest of the world is "gone". Signed Jeff Brenton KA9VNV

Yeah, I'm going to try to get up early enough to make a run down to the north suburbs on the bike in the morning, before KD9PK drags me into some other projects. Got some equipment down that it would be better to have tomorrow than when I am next scheduled to go down...
The tracker is set up to run whenever the bike is running. Still have to position a few things, like the GPS, so that they're "less obvious". Signed Jeff Brenton KA9VNV

A scooter, eh? Going to bring it over and do an Experienced Rider class with us next year at Rock Valley or one of the other ranges?
Ride to the suburbs didn't happen. Had to spend the day cleaning up a warehouse. grumble! Signed Jeff Brenton KA9VNV

You might be confusing me with someone who works for Harley... The experienced rider courses "we" do are through the state, and they're free. If you reserve a seat in one, rather than walking in and taking your chances that there is an open seat, you pay a $23 fee, but $20 of that can be refunded if you complete the class.
But, that's outside the discussion here.
I will probably order another TT4+GPS and replace the KPC-3+ in the car yet this month. Signed Jeff Brenton KA9VNV

All of the classes OTHER THAN the experienced rider are done on school bikes, so you could take the class even if you sell the scoot... Signed Jeff Brenton KA9VNV

The TT4 for the Jeep arrived Saturday. Spent some time today programming it up, even though I haven't got the radio/power cable made yet.
I also picked up an APO-3 automatic relay for the Jeep, to automatically power the radio down for me. I don't always remember to toggle the power when heading out...
I must say, though, that the Byonics GPS-2 is a very nice unit. First power-up to signal lock was under a minute. I had originally planned on making the APO-3 just power the radio (which is why I tried to track down one of the "OEM" connector versions instead of the Power Pole), so that the GPS would always be powered up and locked on, but the GPS-2 doesn't require that. I have my TT3+/radio/GPS2 wired into the cigarette lighter socket that is only hot when the van runs.. I've never had a problem with it not locking on before I'm out of the alley...
Need to come up with a use for my other tracker setup... Signed Gene Young N9MXQ
